Qui-Gon Jinn, a venerable but independent Jedi Master, was a student of the Living Force. Qui-Gon lived for the moment, advocating a philosophy of, feel, don't think, use your instincts. On Tatooine , Qui-Gon discovered a young slave named Anakin Skywalker , strong in the Force. Sensing the boy's potential, Qui-Gon freed Anakin from slavery. The Jedi Master presented Anakin to the Jedi Council, but they deemed the boy too old to begin his training and dangerously filled with fear and anger. They refused Qui-Gon to train Anakin, but reversed their decision to fulfill Qui-Gon's last wish before his death.

The Way of Qui-Gon Jinn: Defying the Jedi Council to Honor the Will of the Force

As a wise and respected Jedi Master, Qui-Gon Jinn would certainly have been appointed to the Jedi Council if he had not regularly disobeyed his wishes. Qui-Gon 's refusal to comply with the Council's decisions was often seen as an act of defiance, but for him things were simpler: his highest loyalty was to the will of the Force , and he had spent years to learn to hear his commands. Qui-Gon felt the Living Force at work when his diplomatic mission to Naboo failed and he was forced to accompany Padmé Amidala to the Hutt-controlled planet Tatooine. There he discovered Anakin Skywalker, a boy with enormous strength in the Force.

The Vision of Qui-Gon Jinn: The Quest for the Chosen One and the Sacrifice of a Jedi Master

Qui-Gon believed that Anakin was the One, to bring balance to the Force, and that their meeting was no accident. He brought Anakin to the Jedi Council on Coruscant and was angered when his fellow Masters refused to train the boy, but viewed their lack of vision as merely a temporary setback. The Sith apprentice, Darth Maul , defeated Qui-Gon at the Battle of Naboo, but the dying Jedi had enough time to ask his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi , to promise to train Anakin. He crossed into the Force convinced that the Chosen One had been found and that monumental events were underway.

Echoes of Qui-Gon Jinn: A Jedi Master Beyond Death

Yoda had witnessed Qui-Gon Jinn's funeral pyre on Naboo, but when Anakin Skywalker lost control of his emotions and massacred the Tusken raiders on Tatooine, the former Jedi Master could feel Qui-Gon's alarm and anguish spreading through the Force. It seemed impossible, but Qui-Gon had somehow retained his consciousness after passing through the Force.

The Posthumous Teachings of Qui-Gon Jinn

During the Clone Wars , Anakin and Obi-Wan Kenobi both saw visions of Qui-Gon on the Force-saturated planet Mortis. Qui-Gon warned Obi-Wan that the spirits of Mortis would attempt to use Anakin for their own ends and sought to reassure Anakin that he would restore balance to the Force. Later, Qui-Gon spoke to Yoda through the Force, leading him to the swamp planet of Dagobah. There, Yoda began his investigations into the mysteries of the Force. Qui-Gon guided Yoda through this journey of self-discovery, teaching him the secrets he had learned. Later, he would also teach this lost knowledge to Obi-Wan .

The Rebel Path of Qui-Gon Jinn: Jedi Master and Disciple of the Living Force

Qui-Gon Jinn, a Force -sensitive man, was a venerable, if somewhat rebellious, Jedi Master who lived during the final years of the Republic Era. He was a wise and respected member of the Jedi Order and was offered a seat on the Jedi Council, but chose to reject it and follow his own path. Adhering to a philosophy centered around the Living Force, Jinn strove to follow the will of the Force even when his actions conflicted with the wishes of the High Council. After meeting Anakin Skywalker , Jinn brought him to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, convinced that he had found the Chosen One. His final wish was for Skywalker to become a Jedi and finally restore balance to the Force.

The Path of Qui-Gon Jinn: From Padawan to Jedi Master

Born on the core world of Coruscant, the capital of the Galactic Republic around 80 BC. BY, Jinn eventually learned the ways of the Force as a Padawan of Jedi Master Dooku before eventually attaining the rank of Jedi Knight. He himself took an apprentice, Obi-Wan Kenobi , who adhered more to the principles of the Jedi Code than his own master. Although their relationship was difficult at times, the two Jedi overcame initial difficulties during a mission to Pijal, during which Jinn refused a request to join the Jedi Council to continue teaching his apprentice. When the Trade Federation initiated a blockade of the Midcore planet Naboo in 32 BC. BY, Jinn and Kenobi were sent to resolve the crisis at the request of Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum. Influenced by the mysterious Sith Lord Darth Sidious , the Federation launched a full-scale invasion of Naboo, forcing the Jedi to rescue Queen Padmé Amidala after the fall of Theed.

The Fateful Meeting: Qui-Gon Jinn and Anakin Skywalker on Tatooine

During their journey to the Galactic Capital, the group was forced to land on the remote Outer Rim planet Tatooine, where Jinn encountered a young slave named Anakin Skywalker. Using a scientific method to assess the boy's potential, he discovered that Skywalker had more midi-chlorians in his blood than any Force-sensitive being in galactic history, including Grandmaster Yoda . The revelation that he was the result of a miraculous birth, a child born to a mother but having no father, confirmed Jinn's suspicions that Skywalker was the Chosen One destined to restore balance to the Force. Before leaving the desert world with Skywalker, Jinn was confronted by Sidious' Sith apprentice, Darth Maul . Although their duel was brief, he convinced Jinn that the Sith had returned after a millennium of silence.

The Sacrifice of Qui-Gon Jinn: The Quest for the Chosen One

At the Temple, Jinn was adamant that Skywalker was the Chosen One and therefore must be brought into the Jedi Order. However, after inspecting him themselves, the High Council deemed him too old, emotional, and dangerously filled with fear and anger. Jinn viewed their decision as a temporary setback, but the need to resolve the situation on Queen Amidala 's home planet forced him to set aside his plans for Skywalker . During the Battle of Naboo, Jinn and Kenobi together confronted Darth Maul. Although they were initially successful in repelling the Sith's attacks, master and apprentice were ultimately separated during the lightsaber duel, resulting in Jinn being fatally injured. Rushing to his master's aid, Kenobi fought and ultimately defeated the Sith of Dathomir , but was unable to save Jinn. With his last breath, Jinn made Kenobi promise to take Skywalker as his apprentice. Having obtained Kenobi 's word, Jinn became one with the Force, dying with the certainty of having found the Chosen One.
